The Laboratory occupies 4 building of the Oceanographic Observatory: la Corderie (also called Caserne Nicolas), the buildings Les Galériens and the Vieille Forge (also known as the Station Zoologique), and the Jean Maetz building.

How To Get Here

Villefranche-sur-Mer is between Nice and Monaco. Getting here from Nice :

  • From the Airport : Bus service from the airport Nice Côte d'Azur to Villefranche (15 km).

  • By Train : frequent service between the stations of Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer

  • By Automobile : Exit from the autoroute A8 at "Nice - Promenade des Anglais onto the 'Promenade d'Anglais' continue along the coast road towards Monaco. Alternatively, exit the autoroute A8 at 'Nice Est', follow the signs toward the Port (of Nice) and from the Port take the 'Basse Corniche' towards Monaco.

When you arrived at the airport you have two options:

  • By Bus :

    Ligne d’Azur, the city’s bus operator, runs dedicated airport
    services, lines 98 start at Terminal Two, before picking up
    passengers at Terminal One. An Aéro ticket costs 6€
    one-way and can be purchased on board. The 98 runs
    frequently, three times an hour – the first at 05:50 and the
    last 23:50. The ticket is valid for 74 minutes and allows for
    one connecting voyage on any urban bus.

    To go to Villefranche sur Mer, take the bus 98, and come
    down has the bus stop “Promenade des Arts”

    When you arrive at “Promenade des art“ take the bus 81
    (frequently 2 time an hour) in direction “Port de Saint
    Jean”.

    After 15mn you arrived at Villefranche sur Mer and drop off
    at the bus stop “Saint Esteve “ if you stay at the Flore Hotel,
    and at the bus stop “ Ange Gardien” if you stay at the Patria
    Hotel or Ange Gardien residence.

    To go to the Laboratory LBDV, the workshop and your
    hotel, follow the Avenue of “Général de Gaulle” and
    continue along the “Darse port” then towards the “Station
    Zoologique”(map in page2).

    For the return, take the bus at bus stop “OCTROI” and drop
    off at the terminal station “Garibaldi”, and take the return
    bus at the “Lycée Masena” bus stop.

    By Taxi :

    You have much taxi which can drive to Villefranche in both
    Terminal. Remember to have cash ready to pay the driver
    (cash points and exchange bureaus are handily located in
    both airport terminals).

    For the return is cheaper to call a taxi in Villefranche sur
    Mer
